I have been a hockey fan from the moment my son started playing at the age of 10. It wasn't long before I began recording and analyzing player stats so I could better understand individual contributions to team wins. Along the way I discovered Bill James, Alan Ryder and others and their research. It resonated with me immediately. The new insights frequently flowed against the common wisdom, but I believed.
