BORN AUGUST 27TH, 1984 in Adelaide Australia, the daughter of Irene and Bob, Lucy Parrington developed in the local ice and inline leagues, playing junior hockey in boys teams. "I remember doing private lessons with this young girl," says Coach John Botterill, "and knew then her determination and skills would take her places! Loved having the opportunity to coach her and watch her make such a great contribution to Aussie Women's ice hockey! Often behind every great player are dedicated and supportive parents, and so it was with Lucy!"

Parrington represented South Australia in the McKowen Trophy from the late-Nineties, then Adelaide in the AWIHL with the Adelaide Assassins in 2006 and '07. South Australia won the national title in 2003, '05 and '06. While playing for Adelaide, Parrington played in the NCAA (W) for Clarkson University in 2005 as an exchange program student, and then first represented Victoria as Alternate Captain in the 2008 McKowen at Newcastle coached by Shaun Muller.

A 165cm tall Centre and Right Wing with the Melbourne Dragons in the new AWIHL for 2 seasons (2008, '09), she continued for six more until 2015 when the club re-branded to the Melbourne Ice. Alternate Captain from 2008, Parrington accumulated 46 goals 74 assists in 78 AWIHL games for an average 1.5 points per game. She won the McKowen Trophy in 2007, '11, '13, 14, and '15, and perhaps others earlier with South Australia, closing out an AWIHL career on an average 1.24 points per game.

Her début under Coach Berg in the second World Women's qualification in 2001 was the first of ten senior ice hockey appearances for her country (2001, '03, '05, '07, '08, '11 to '13, '16, '17). Although selected in 2018, she did not play. Parrington was the top player on the team in 2007, Alternate Captain on several occasions (2010, '11, '16), and by 2019 she had played the third Most Games (45) behind Shona Powell and Rylie Padjen. She won the Bronze Medal in the Qualifier, two more in Division-2, two Division-3 Gold, and one Division-2B Gold.

Parrington also coached recreational ice hockey. She played national league inline hockey, and captained Australia at the FIRS Inline Hockey World Championships. In 2018, Australia defeated Sweden 5-1, losing only to Canada 3-0. She played Australian Rules football with the Port Melbourne Colts, and a new women's football team at Swinburne University.

After degrees in Applied Science and Health Science at Swinburne, Parrington completed a Doctorate in Biomechanics and Motor Learning. Her work is focused on the technical and cognitive underpinnings of skilled performance in sport, and its application at development and intermediate levels. She now lives in Portland Oregon working as a Post-doctorate Fellow in Biomechanics and mTBI research at Oregon Health and Science University. She still plays hockey, and she is also a development coach for the US Women's National Team of the United States Australian Football League.

"An outstanding competitor," recalls Craig Campbell, "and a hell of a representative of our game to the world".
