BiographiesLegends of Australian Ice

A legend is a traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but not authenticated, or a very famous or notorious person. Some are able to be authenticated, some are not. Some have been lost, some have been found. The biographies of the sports people listed below have been included because of their significance to these stories, not necessarily because they are famous or notorious.

The sporting biographies of significant athletes, builders or on-ice officials are indexed alphabetically by name. Builders and officials are separately indexed by name on the 'Builders' tabs. This category includes significant coaches, general managers, commentators, team owners and others who have helped build Australian ice sports.

The significance of an athlete or official is determined by ability, sportsmanship, character and contributions to team/s and to the sport in general. The significance of a builder is determined by coaching, managerial ability, or ability in another significant off-ice role, sportsmanship, character and contributions to organization/s and to the sport in general. Eligible athletes or officials are included when they have retired from competition or have otherwise not been competing in professional or international sport for at least three seasons. A builder may be active or inactive when included.
